The Ketuuseh System -

  •  5 Planet System, located in the Ultima Segmentum, to the Galactic East of Holy Terra

  •  Mostly unpopulated and remote, with mining camps spread few and far between

  •  No Imperial Government structure is currently in place, as the previous structure fell to ruin during a warp storm in M38, making travel to the system impossible for  the better part of 2,000 years. What is left of the infrastructure is ruined and has been scavenged by years of playing home to migrant working crews and those who wish to stay out from under the watchful eyes of the Imperium

  •  Most of the mining takes place on the first 4 planets of the system, leaving Ketuuseh V practically uninhabited.

  •  Mining stories and rumors speak of strange occurrences upon Ketuuseh V, and any who go to the planet, are not keen on returning. Stories of men going crazy and murdering their fellow workers is not uncommon, or of entire mining crews disappearing in the night. This tends to keep all but the most determined from entering its atmosphere, content to mine the rich minerals of Ketuuseh Prime, II, III, and IV

The Black Legion

Abaddon, in preparation for the unleashing of his XIII Black Crusade, has sent his Black Legion to the Ketuuseh Sector. Abaddon has been led to believe that at the center of Ketuuseh V is a warp rift, but unlike any previously experienced. The fabric of reality is extremely thin, which Abaddon plans to use in his favor. He believes that a detonation at the core of the planet would tear a hole in reality rivaling that of the Eye of Terror itself, essentially opening up a second great gate from which Chaos could pour out and terrorize the galaxy. This would allow Abaddon to attack Terra from from opposing sides of the Galaxy in greater numbers than ever before, something that even the Might of the Imperium would be hard pressed to repel. Abaddon has tasked one of his most trusted commanders, Lord Ventra Karadex, to head the invasion. Be’Lakor, the First Daemon Prince, has also seen fit to help Abaddon in his cause, and prepares a daemonhost to help in Lord Karadex’s endeavors.

The Corsican 523rd Imperial Guard Regiment

Son of a Corsican noble, Lucius Tahl spent the early part of his career training in the Corsican naval academy, as is customary on the planet. During a rebellion that broke out on Corsica, the young Lucius Tahl was attached to an infantry company as a Naval liaison, to help facilitate communications between the officers on the ground and Naval Command. The officer he was assigned to was killed by a stray rifle shot from the enemy, and Tahl broke protocol and assumed command of the engagement. He proved to be a naturally gifted infantry commander, but due to his protocol infractions he was dismissed from his position with the navy. The Corsican army offered command of the company to Lucius, and he was eventually promoted to Senior Commander of the entire 523rd regiment.

Though never officially earning the title of 'Admiral' while in the Navy, the 523rd have always  used it in reference to him. The Corsican regiments have historically held to a strict infantry based strategy, preferring massed firing lines and artillery to the lumbering behemoth of the Leman Russ tank. The younger generation of commanders are beginning to adopt mechanized doctrines from other regiments. This has caused a rift between the generations, with senior officers often disagreeing with their subordinates about battle formations. The Corsican 523rd is a mixture of the two philosophies. Its
senior officer, Admiral Tahl, has a preference for infantry, while its second in command, Colonel 'Blitzkrieg' Caine, maintains a preference for mechanized warfare. The two have worked together to form a combined-arms approach to warfare. Admiral Tahl travels with an honor guard of mechanized infantry made up of twenty of the most veteran soldiers in the regiment, while also keeping a fire support platoon nearby, drilled in providing disciplined volleys of fire, as well as trained to rapidly deploy and fire close range mortars. While Admiral Tahl is the senior commander, Colonel Caine is generally the highest ranking field officer. Where Admiral Tahl directs the regiment from a strategic stand point, he trusts Colonel Caine to direct all tactical actions in the field.

The Corsican 523rd has recently been requisitioned by Inquisitor Viktor Elswick. The regiment has travelled with him as he has tracked a group of heretic Space Marines to the Ketuuseh Sector. The renegade marines are reported to be in league with the xenos Tau Empire.  Inquisitor Elswick has promised to release the 523rd from their service to him once the heresy has been purged. Unbeknownst to the commanding officers of the 523rd,Inquisitor Elswick is actually a renegade himself.  He has secretly formed a pact with Lord Karadex, and is using the Corsican  regiment as a blunt instrument to help The Black Legion obtain their goals. Knowing the Corsicans' strong devotion to the Imperial Truth, he has taken exhausting steps to keep his true motives hidden from them, and has kept the 523rd far away from his personally allied Chaos host, at least until he can guarantee their commitment to his cause, or their equal damnation.

Hive Fleet “Scree”

Throughout his Black Crusades, Abaddon has come into contact with every known kind of living being, mostly at the end of his daemon sword Drach’nyen. A foe that has always intrigued him are the Tyranids. Creatures that are as remorseless as he, with a killer instinct and a fearlessness only a depraved soul as he can relate to. Such an ally could prove to be an asset for him, much like an attack dog on a leash. Lord Karadex was given a gift by Abaddon before departure to the Ketuuseh Sector; a lictor of a yet unnamed Tyranid hive fleet, known only by the haunting “Scree’s” they emit as they destroy worlds. Using the lictor, Karadex has been able to change the Hive Fleet’s destination to Ketuuseh, to use as a smoke screen for his true motives.

The Kabal of the Shattered Soul

A campaign of this magnitude could not be realized without making some interesting pacts with unlikely bedfellows. Lord Karadex made one such alliance with Baron Sarthonyx, an outcast of the piratical Dark Eldar, currently in league with a small war band known as the Kabal of the Shattered Soul, as well as a band of Eldar Corsairs. A fleet the size of Karadex’s  does not simply leave the Eye of Terror and traverse across the known galaxy undetected, a problem the Baron could solve, for a nominal fee. Sarthonyx offered use of an old section of the Webway, unused due to it’s proximity to the Eye of Terror. Using this would allow Karadex to move his forces free of the watchful eye of the Imperium, across the galaxy to a much closer and desolate area from which to then traverse via warp travel to the Ketuuseh Sector. In return, Karadex offered the Baron and his allied Kabal all of the casualties of war, both their enemies and allies alike. The Dark Eldar treasure prisoners of war above all else, and a haul this large even Sarthonyx could not turn down.

TEAM GOOD'URNs

The Silver Skulls Space Marine Chapter

The rerouting of the unnamed hive fleet was discovered by a reconnaissance fleet of the Silver Skulls, led by one of the chapter’s most decorated Librarians, Prognosticator Lucius Clave. Gaining great renown for his actions against the the great daemonhost ‘Soulmaw’ during the Scouring of Ammas, he has tempered a great hatred for daemonkind, and the feeling has made its way throughout his detachment.  Claiming Guilliman as their progenitor, and sharing their father chapter’s hatred for the Tyranids, the fleet has made haste to intercept the hive fleet and dispatch them in this remote region of space, before their threat can spread to other, more populous regions of the galaxy.

Farsight Enclaves

The Hive Fleet’s presence has also been noticed by an outcast group of Tau, led by the secretive Shas'O Vior'la Shovah Kais Mont’yr, better known has Commander Farsight and his renegade Enclave. Farsight wishes to cleanse the area of the tyrannic taint, as any foothold in the Ultima Segmentum by the Great Devourer is a threat to not only his Enclave, but the entire Tau race. Farsight has assembled a strike force to be led by himself, personally, and is headed to the Ketuuseh sector.

The Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter

The Dark Angels are ever vigilant in their Hunt for the Fallen, a quest that they typically wish to perform beneath a veil of secrecy and shadow. During an interrogation of the latest Fallen to be seized and “forgiven”, plans of Abaddon’s travels to the Ketuuseh system came to light. Even more important was the possibility of one of Abaddon’s lieutenants, Lord Karex Balarath, will be among the leaders of the campaign. Balarath is believed by the Interrogator-Chaplains to be one of the Fallen, and the Dark Angels will stop at nothing to put an end to the Hunt and claim their forgiveness. Azrael dispatched a strike force led by Belial and members of the venerated Deathwing as well as the Ravenwing to stop Abaddon’s plot and bring Balarath back to the Rock, where his “salvation” awaits…
